SurgePay

SurgePay set out to fix what traditional banking couldn't: The complete money platform.

Money should just work.

Built for global Africans earning in foreign currencies, supporting family back home, and operating without borders, the platform needed an identity that matched the ambition. The challenge was standing out in Nigeria's crowded fintech market.

The Challenge

The challenge was standing out in Africa's saturated fintech market with an identity that matched the platform's ambition.

Our Approach

The brand promise is simple: "Money Should Just Work." No delays, no hidden fees, no complexity. We positioned SurgePay as the complete money platform, not single-purpose remittances or payments, but a comprehensive infrastructure combining receive, hold, send, and spend in one app.

The SurgePay identity is defined by "engineered energy," trading common fintech clichés for a visual language of precision and speed. The "Kinetic S" symbol utilizes an aerodynamic slant and geometric, stepped cuts to suggest a platform that is both fast and structurally sound. By prioritizing abstract geometry over literal tropes like lightning bolts, the mark achieves a higher level of ownability and sophistication. Using lowercase letterforms positions the brand as an accessible, tech-forward peer rather than a rigid institution.

Typography uses Schibsted Grotesk for clean, global readability. It balances professional credibility with approachability.

Color centers on Electric Indigo for authority and neon for energy. The palette signals both premium quality and forward momentum. Secondary colors orange, peach, navy, pink provide versatility across different contexts.

3D assets reinforce the brand's modern infrastructure. Currency coins, financial institutions (in both purple and jade), checkmarks (green and purple), gift boxes (orange and purple), umbrellas, piggy banks, and pins create a comprehensive visual system. The dimensional approach differentiates SurgePay and matches the platform's stablecoin-powered technology.

Illustrations using purple and jade add clarity and warmth. Locks for security. Search icons for transparency. Gift boxes for value. Each illustration maintains geometric precision while staying accessible.

Patterns derive from the logo's angular geometry, creating a unified visual language across all touchpoints.

The platform enables users to hold and send USDC, EURC, and XLM, convert instantly, and off-ramp to banks and mobile money. Now live across West and East Africa Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Uganda, with support in Botswana and South Africa. Stablecoins power real cross-border payments.

The Outcome

The brand identity positioned SurgePay as premium infrastructure in the fintech space. Within weeks of launch, they were featured by Zikoko and Techcabal, one of Africa's leading technology publications, validating their market positioning and differentiation strategy.

The complete system launched in February 2026 with brand strategy, visual identity, 3D asset library, illustration system, and implementation guidelines everything needed to scale with consistency as the platform grows across markets.
